Is It Possible For Firstborns To Have An Advantage?

In the earth the first of anything has important. For instance, first fruits, first mention, firstborns just to name a few. However, the one that I’m really intrigued by happens to be firstborns. Mainly because I am one:) Just recently I heard a summary of a book call the Firstborn Advantage by Kevin Leman and it stunned me. This book exposed the beneficial personality traits of the firstborn as well as the negative aspects. Below is a taste.
- “Firstborns and those with a firstborn personality are often high achievers, business moguls, concert violinists and PTA presidents. But when they’re out of balance, they can also be overly perfectionistic, people-pleasing, driven and critical.” Sound like someone you know? You, perhaps? I believe every first born, first girl, first boy, only child and parent should read this book. It’s helped me connect some dots as to why I do what I do?
Hi Ezekiel, great article I had read awhile back a book by Linda Goodman (I think) about the order of birth and how each child is affected by the order in which they were born. It was a very interesting read and the whole premise has always intrigue me. Did you know that out of all the United States Presidents almost all of them were either first born, or first born son ? I had just read that somewhere also, so who knows Ezekiel maybe you’ll be on the ballot someday!!! Great post.
Hi Ezekiel! I have to say, as a first born myself, there are certain personality traits that seem to come with the territory. I see it in my own firstborn too–and he’s a boy! I will have to check out this book. Thanks!
Hi Ezekiel: Just found you via Carol over at Inspired Journey. Very interesting post as I, too, am a first born and have many of these characteristics. Thanks for this post and congrat’s on your award. Shirl
I like Dr. Kevin Leman too. I met him when helping him produce his video series “Value Packed Parenting.”
Since then, I’ve supported his efforts to make parenting easier by devoting a blog to his video series.
Watch a short clip from Making Children Mind without Losing Yours
or “Making Marriage Work.”
I think his latest book release “How to Have a New Kid by Friday” is good too.
Thanks Jack for the link! Great videos! Hey readers if you want more information from Dr. Leman, check out the link above.
